BOSTON, MA – The MBTA Advisory Board, an independent agency overseeing MBTA finances and operations on behalf of cities and towns announced the appointment of Brian Kane as its new Executive Director. “I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the 176 cities and towns of the MBTA Advisory Board, and look forward to working with them and the legislature to make the T more fair, equitable, and sustainable for all the citizens of the Commonwealth,” said Brian Kane.
Kane replaces Paul Reagan, who retired in April 2020. Kane has served as acting executive director since Regan’s retirement. Prior to this, Kane spent 8 years at the MBTA in many capacities including, Manager of Operating Budget, senior staff of several MBTA General managers, principal staffer to the Fiscal and Management Control Board, and Director of Operations Analysis in T Operations. Kane began his career in public transportation as a budget and policy analyst at the MBTA Advisory Board in 2012. A Brookline resident, he holds a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from Northeastern University, and a BA in history from Boston College.
