Representative Auchincloss (MA-04) was joined by local leaders in Brookline at the Coolidge Corner T station yesterday to announce legislation to provide tax credits for employers that offer transit benefits to employees. Also speaking were MBTA GM Phil Eng, State Representative Tommy Vitolo, Brookline Select Board member Michael Sandman, Jarred Johnson of TransitMatters and David Straus of the Association for Commuter Transportation.
This legislation would allow employers to offer tax-exempt benefits for employees commuting via a ride in a commuter highway vehicle between the employee’s home and workplace, transit pass, or qualified parking. The bill would restore a tax credit that was eliminated in 2017 by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
